Lesson 2:

Called to a Kingdom

God's Truth

I am called to the Kingdom of God.

Vocabulary

  • Success: accomplishing a goal in a manner that maintains an individual’s integrity
  • Strength: an area in our life where we are naturally strong
  • Weakness: a quality that can be seen as a disadvantage
  • Kingdom: God’s purpose being accomplished through obedient people on earth

Discussion Questions

  • Question 1: How does loving God and loving your neighbour connect to your purpose and bring success to your work?
  • Question 2: God’s vision for our success is centred on living in obedience to him and his Word. How is this different from how you have viewed success in the past?

Activity: Sad, Mad, Glad

Discovering the call that God has placed on your life may be something that feels clear to you now, or it may be something that you continue to discover over your lifetime. Let us take some time to answer these thoughts:

  • List three things in the world that make you feel sad.
  • List three things in the world that make you feel mad.
  • List three things in the world that make you feel glad.

The intersection of these three lists—your Sad, Mad, Glad Lists—are where your passions, giftings, vocation, and calling may lie. We will continue building on these thoughts in the coming weeks.

Next Steps / Life work

One way for us to become accountable workers is to set goals for our futures. List out four goals you will aim to accomplish as you meet the needs of your community with your unique set of strengths and weaknesses. Your strengths are areas in which you are naturally strong; your weaknesses are qualities that can be seen as disadvantages.

Here are a few questions to help guide your thinking:

  • What strengths do I have?
  • What weaknesses do I have?
  • How can I use my strengths to accomplish my goals?

As you write out these goals, ensure that your intentions are in line with what we have learnt today. Each of your goals should be based on your love for God and your love for your communities.
