Scripture Reading

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him for ever and ever! Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10

Case Study

Mikayla Sullivan is the 19-year-old CEO of Kinosol. Mikayla’s desire to tackle the problem of food waste came from her first-hand experience of visiting rural villages in Mexico. Since that experience, she has beendriven to turn her dream of providing sustainable solutions to people in need into a reality.

Along with her fellow college students, Clayton, Ella, and Elise, she invented a solar dehydrator that is now helping subsistence farmers around the world. Farmers in developing countries often have a difficult time keeping their crops fresh on their way to market. As a result, it is estimated that up to one-third of produce spoils before it can be eaten. Mikayla’s mission was and is to save that third for the sake of those who are hungry. She invented solar dehydrators to preserve produce.

Mikayla and her team can celebrate that their invention is making lives measurably better. They are now field-testing their solar dehydrators in Haiti, El Salvador, Thailand, and Uganda. The dehydrators are providing
food for hundreds of people by dehydrating fruits, vegetables, grains, and even insects with solar energy, which in turn reduces food waste. It’s a creative and innovative mission that is driven by compassion and a calling to care for God’s children.

Write something that inspires you about Mikalya’s story.

Write about a time you made a positive difference.
